DANCERS (Slightly Out of Shape)

The film nods to the verité filmmaking of the late 60s, with jumps-cuts and black and white cinematography. This tactile style creates an immediacy and informality as we feel the filmmaker’s presence and communication with Tanowitz.

Broadcast PBS/ALL ARTS and online.

Every Moment Alters

a film by Liz Sargent & Pam Tanowitz

Producted by Cyprian Films, New York and Fisher Center at BARD

Producer/Director of Photography: Minos Papas

World Premiere: Venice Biennale Danza

Shot  in New York in 2020, Every Moment Alters captures the  intense dislocation and unique disquiet of that long, strange summer.  Director Liz Sargent and choreographer Pam Tanowitz evoke a shadow of memory, of how the past is the present and continues to shape the future. The screen splits and fragments, phrases  catch and repeat in the music by Caroline Shaw. “The  ability to forget is actually part of what makes us human...”
